HE LOST PERIS. HE KEPT BUILDING.
The story behind DPG, Brooklyn and the Nakuru man determined to turn loss into legacy
There are moments in life that divide your story into before and after.
For David Kairo Irungu, March 27, 2026, was one of those days.
That was the day he lost his wife, Peris Gathoni Mbugua.
Their daughter, Brooklyn, was only six months old.
But if you look at David today, you will see a man who is still building.
Still creating.
Still showing up.
Still looking for ways to make people's lives easier.
And perhaps most importantly, still carrying forward something that he and Peris started together.
THIS IS NOT JUST THE STORY OF A PROPERTY WEBSITE
Visit Dapper Properties Gate — propertiesgate.co.ke and you will find a property platform designed to make it easier to buy, rent, lease or sell property. The platform currently features property searches, listings, agents and tools for people looking for property opportunities.
But behind that website is a much bigger story.
DPG — Dapper Properties Gate — was something David helped build with Peris.
Today, every listing, every agent who joins, every person who searches for a house, plot, land or investment opportunity and every person who discovers DPG is interacting with something that has a piece of their story in it.
And that changes the meaning of the platform.
It isn't simply a business David wants to grow.
It is something he is determined to keep alive.
BEFORE DPG, THERE WAS A BUILDER
David's journey did not begin with real estate.
It began with creativity.
Known in the creative world as DBlaq Muziq, David is an artist and MC who has spent years participating in Nakuru's creative ecosystem.
He founded LTown Dance Crew.
He founded Nakuru Showbiz.
He founded Mkenya Brands.
He has worked with businesses on branding and graphic design.
And he has repeatedly created platforms designed to give other people visibility.
Among the brands he has helped build are Libert'e Graphics Nakuru, Ombra Kenya, Zevida Naturals, Mercy Smiles Dental Studio, Brand & Web and Masebot Tech, among many others.
Some of the original designs he created have continued with those businesses as important parts of their identities.
That says something about the kind of work David believes in.
He doesn't simply want to make something look good.
He wants to build something that lasts.
HIS REAL PASSION: BUILDING PLATFORMS FOR PEOPLE
Look at David's journey closely and a pattern emerges.
Music gave him a voice.
Nakuru Showbiz gave creatives visibility.
LTown Dance Crew gave young dancers a platform.
Branding gave businesses identities.
Mkenya Brands created another space for Kenyan businesses.
Street College gave him another opportunity to support young creatives.
And DPG gave him a way to tackle a completely different problem:
How do we make finding and marketing property easier?
That is the thread running through everything.
BUILD A PLATFORM.
CONNECT PEOPLE.
CREATE VISIBILITY.
MAKE LIFE EASIER.
THEN LIFE CHANGED EVERYTHING
Peris was not simply David's wife.
She was Brooklyn's mother.
She was also part of the beginning of DPG.
Then, on March 27, she was gone.
Suddenly, David was no longer only thinking about business growth, technology and the future.
He was a father raising a baby who had lost her mother.
He was grieving while still having responsibilities.
He was carrying a dream that he had started with Peris.
And somehow, he had to keep moving.
Not because the pain disappeared.
But because Brooklyn still needed him.
FOR BROOKLYN, THERE IS A STORY HER FATHER IS STILL WRITING
Brooklyn was only six months old when she lost her mother.
She is too young to understand the significance of DPG today.
She may not understand why her mother's name appears in the story of the foundation her father created.
She may not yet understand why her father continues to work, create and build.
But one day she will.
She will discover that her mother helped her father start something.
She will discover that her father kept building after losing her.
She will discover that instead of allowing grief to become the end of the story, he tried to turn it into something that could help other people.
And she will discover that Perry Gee Foundation was created in her mother's honor.
FROM PERIS TO PERRY GEE
The Perry Gee Foundation is David's tribute to Peris.
It is a way of keeping her memory connected to service, community and helping others.
Because David's answer to life has never simply been to ask:
“What can I get?”
His question has often been:
“What can I build that helps somebody else?”
That philosophy is now more personal than ever.
THE MAN WHO ALSO CHOSE TO SPEAK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH
David has also volunteered with the Africa Regional Counselling and Training Institute, supporting efforts to champion mental-health awareness.
That work fits naturally into his creative and community journey.
He understands the power of music.
The power of art.
The power of conversation.
The power of giving people a place where they can express themselves.
He has also volunteered as an MC at Street College, supporting a platform built around young people, music, art and creative expression.
For David, talent isn't just entertainment.
Sometimes talent becomes a way of healing.
SO WHAT DOES SUPPORTING DAVID AND BROOKLYN ACTUALLY MEAN?
It doesn't necessarily mean sending David sympathy.
It means something much more powerful:
Support what he is building.
If you're looking for property, search DPG.
If you're an agent, consider listing through DPG.
If you're a property owner, give your property another avenue for visibility.
If you know someone searching for land, a house, an apartment or an investment opportunity, send them to DPG.
If you are an entrepreneur, creative or young person building something, understand the bigger story:
David is trying to build platforms that create opportunities for people like you.
And every person who uses the platform helps give that vision another chance to grow.
DPG's website currently allows people to browse property listings by categories including sale, rent, apartments, houses and land, with listings across Nakuru and other locations.
So perhaps the simplest way to stand with David and Brooklyn is not to look at their story and simply say:
“Pole.”
Instead, say:
“I see what you're building. Let me support it.”
GO TO DPG
Maybe you're looking for a bedsitter.
Maybe you're searching for your first home.
Maybe you want land.
Maybe you're selling property.
Maybe you're an agent looking for clients.
Maybe you're simply someone who believes that Kenyan entrepreneurs deserve a chance to build something meaningful.
Whatever brought you here, take a moment to visit:
www.propertiesgate.co.ke
Search.
Explore.
Share a listing.
Tell someone about it.
Give an agent visibility.
Give a property a chance to find its buyer.
Give the platform a chance to grow.
Because sometimes supporting someone doesn't require a grand gesture.
Sometimes it starts with a click.
THIS IS BIGGER THAN DPG
David's story is not only about property.
It is about a man who has spent years building things for other people.
It is about a creative who became an entrepreneur.
It is about a father trying to give his daughter a future.
It is about a husband carrying the memory of the woman who helped him begin.
It is about a community builder who believes young people deserve platforms.
It is about mental-health awareness.
It is about Nakuru.
And it is about what happens when someone chooses to keep building even after life takes something precious away.
PERIS STARTED THE JOURNEY.
DAVID IS CARRYING IT FORWARD.
BROOKLYN WILL ONE DAY KNOW WHY.
And perhaps the greatest way to honor that journey is not through pity.
It is through participation.
Use the platform.
Share the platform.
Support the platform.
Build with him.
Because behind Dapper Properties Gate is not just a website.
There is a father.
There is a daughter.
There is a mother whose memory lives on.
There is a community.
And there is a dream that refuses to die.
